Six students from KolaDaisi University (KDU) in Ibadan, Oyo State have been honored as Millennium Fellows by the United Nations after successfully completing a rigorous social impact project and fellowship program.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Sekinat Kola-Aderoju, Acting Director of the Academic Planning Unit, and Dr. Archibong-Okonneh from the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies, the KDU graduates distinguished themselves as global leaders.

“The newly appointed Millennium Fellows are Anuoluwapo Soyege, Moyinoluwa Oni-falohun, Adefolajuwon Akerele, Toyosi Ojofeyitimi, Emmanuel Olufayo, and Oluchi Obinta.”
According to the release, Mr. Haruna Olawale Adetu, the Registrar of KolaDaisi University, commended the fellows for their achievement and urged them to aim for further success, emphasizing that their potential extends far beyond the sky.
With a staggering 44,000 applicants from 3,000 universities worldwide, only 260 campuses, including KolaDaisi University, were selected to participate in the Millennium Fellowship program. KDU represented approximately 9% of the total applications received from 38 countries.
The Millennium Fellowship, conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), provides students with a platform to effect positive change in their communities and beyond.
This recognition adds to a series of recent achievements by both students and staff at KolaDaisi University. Dr. J. O Akanni, from the Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences, was recently admitted to the Afox visiting fellowship at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
During his tenure, Dr. Akanni will focus on research related to public health education, fumigation, and mass ivermectin administration to combat onchocerciasis transmission dynamics.
