Tinubu Initiates Implementation of 12-Year-Old Oransanye Report

After more than a decade of delay, President Bola Tinubu has initiated the implementation of recommendations from the Stephen Oransanye report, aimed at reforming Nigeria’s federal agencies.

Commissioned by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, the Oransanye report proposed the consolidation, merger, or elimination of numerous redundant and inefficient government parastatals.

During a federal executive council (FEC) meeting held on Monday, Information Minister Mohammed Idris announced that President Tinubu had approved sweeping reforms based on the Oransanye Committee’s findings.

As part of the reforms, multiple agencies will undergo elimination, merger, or restructuring, marking a significant step towards streamlining governance and reducing costs.

Idris emphasized that the impending changes are intended to optimize efficiency and effectiveness within the government, reassuring workers that job impacts would not be immediate.
