Foundation Distributes Palliatives Among People With Disabilities At Christmas

In the spirit of Christmas, a non governmental organisation, Hope Builders for the Physically Challenged Foundation, Lagos, has distributed food items to the People Living With Disabilities in some parts of Lagos State.

Founder of the Organisation, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Kehinde Akinrinade told the media that, the special people in the society must have a feel of Christmas.

Speaking at the venue of the distribution where a counseling session also took place around Mushin area of Lagos State, Akinrinmade said, “We thank God for a good year. Though a very tough year it was, we can’t but thank God for life,”

Continuing, she said, “If we agree Nigerians have had a tough year, then we should know that people living with disabilities have had a much more tougher year in 2023. This is why these special people must be supported and celebrated.

“For this reason, our organisation has deemed it fit to share love from the little God has provided for us. We have distributed food items, gifts and offered useful counseling to our people to have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the holidays,” she said, urging the government at all levels to always make provisions for inclusion of people with disabilities in their plans.

Motunrayo Miranda is a member of the Board of Trustee for Hope Builders for Physically Challenged Foundation, who addressed the beneficiaries at the event.

Miranda appreciated Akinrinmade for putting the event together even as the economy bites harder.

“I thank Mrs. Akinrinmade for all she has been doing for the people living with disabilities, I thank her for her strength and commitment,” she said.

Continuing, she said,”When God is ready, everything is ready and we thank God for making this gesture of hers possible today.”

She however encouraged the participants to take their businesses seriously and embrace digital marketing.

“Don’t forget also that vocational training is part of what we do in this organisation. If you are supposed to be in a particular vocation and you produce things and you put them in your house, can the people see them? That is why you need digital marketing,” she said.

She also encouraged the beneficiaries who are small scale enterprunurs among people living with disabilities to be more prudent and diligent in their businesses.

“From what we are doing, let us put something in our account at the end of the month. At the end of two months we can tell the bank that for this business we need N100,000. We can work with the amount and we refund the bank within a month or two,” she counselled.
