The first african female drummer, Aralola Apeke Olamuyiwa has been
appointed as Cultural Ambassador for the Ife Kingdom, the cradle of
Yoruba.
The appointment of the famous drummer was contained in a letter
available to Premium Times which was approved and personally signed
the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The Royal father in the letter said, Olamuyiwa who is popularly called
Ara in the music industry was appointed as a result of
hardwork, doggness and resilience as an accomplished first female
African talking drummer.
He described the ambassador as a renowned cultural icon and heritage
to the world stage, stating further that she was appointed so that the
unique instrument of the African can be promoted, preserved and
harnessed for future generation.
‘On behalf of the good people of Ile-Ife the cradle of Yoruba race. I
wish to congratulate you Aralola Apeke Olamuyiwa on your appointment
as the cultural ambassador of this noble kingdom’,the monarch said in
the letter.
The appointment the first class traditional ruler said, takes
immediate effect.
