2023 Rerun: Ogbuku Delivers State Constituency For APC, As INEC Declares Obein Winner

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku has lauded the Independent national electoral Commission (INEC) and electorates of Ogbia Constituency two of Bayesa state for the credible and peaceful rerun polls conducted at the weekend.

This was just as he said the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has been repositioned to win all future polls.

He stated this while speaking with Newsmen shortly after casting his vote at his home town, Ayakoro, unit one, ward three of Ogbia Local Government Area constituency two.

Ogbuku averred that while the state governorship polls of 2019 were won by the APC, the ruling party in the state only came through the court to twart the mandate given to the All Progressives Congress by the Electorates.

The NDDC boss described the 2023 APC’s House of Assembly candidate for Ogbia Constituency two, Chief Godknows Obein as popular, saying he was loved and admired by his Constituents, noting that the candidate is sellable and has wide acceptability by his Constituents across party lines.

Meanwhile, further information made available to Newsmen by the Head, Voter Education and Publicity, Bayelsa state office of the Independent national electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Wilfred Ifogah has it that the House of Assembly rerun elections for the Ogbia Local Government Area constituency two seat was won by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Godknows Obein, polling 5291 votes to defeat his closet rival, Hon. Gibson Edwin Munalayefa of the PDP who got 4342 votes, respectively.

It would be recalled that the Independent national electoral Commission (INEC) had reschedule the State House of Assembly and House of Representatives polls for Ogbia constituency two and Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency billed earlier to take place in March to April 15, due to alleged irregularities in parts of Southern Ijaw, and hoodlums attacks and burning off of election materials on the eve of the Ogbia constituency two House of Assembly elections.
