Army Arrest 24 Suspects At Lekki

A large haul of hard drugs were recovered on Wednesday night by troops of 65 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Bonny Cantonment at Marwa, Lekki, Lagos Nationalwire News can authoritatively reports.

The raid, it was learnt was led by the Commanding Officer of the battalion leading to the arrest of 24 suspects with different kinds of illicit drugs.

A source revealed that the operation which was carried out about 2230 hours, led to the recovery of estimated quantity of 2 X 5.5mm rounds, 10kg of Cannabis Sativa popularly called marijuana; 12 Bottles of codeine, Tramadol, six packs of Canadian loud, Diazapan, deadly Methamphetamine and N3,100.

It was gathered that the raid was carried out principally aimed to sensitize the communities where the suspects abode and ensure that the criminal elements do not take advantage to swoop on them or use their community as a rendezvous for their illicit drug trade and trafficking.

The source further hinted that Lekki general area of recent is becoming a safe heaven for illicit drug business where young children are deceptively cajoled to engage in drug consumption and trade.
