The Niger State chapter of the Institute of Architects, has flaggged off tree planting exercise to commemorate the 2022 World Architect Day.
The State Chairman,Arch. Bako Ismaila Mohammed,in conjunction with other members of the association embarked on the planting of 1,000 trees of different species in Minna,the state capital over the weekend.
Architect Ismaila Bako said the exercise was targeted at addressing the challenges of disertification and to mitigate the effects of climate change with the rest of the world.
He stated further that tree planting symbolizes hope, continuity of life,filter air, provide fresh drinking water, assist cope climate change, as well as create avenue for majority of species of plants and animals.
“We are synergizing with relavant authorities in charge of forestry so as to make sure that falling of trees in our cities and bush is check to preserve the environment”.Architect Bako said.
The recipients of the tree planting donation ,lauded the members of the state chapter for the donation,adding that it came at the right time,and enjoined other Nigerians to join the campaign and culture of tree planting for the fight against global warming and flooding.
Meanwhile, the tree planting exercise was carried out in public and private organizations,schools, Mosques and Churches ,which include,Limawa Modern Primary School, Abdulsalam Youth Centre,Bank of Agriculture,Central Mosque,Minna and Ecwa Chucrh,in Minna.
