Iwobi was the first to arrive the Nigerian camp in Abuja against the Pharaohs of Egypt who eventually held the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a one-all draw in Kaduna at the AFCON qualifiers which ticket Nigeria eventually lost to the North Africans.

The Nigerian, whom the English national side narrowly missed, departed the action against Watford with 17 minutes to play to a standing ovation being replaced by Walcott, who iced the cake with a last minute goal of his own.

By the time he left the stage, Iwobi had scored, set another goal up and hit the crossbar for good measure.
