Police Restores Peace, Calm To Ajah

…as protesters dislodged

Hell was let loose Tuesday afternoon as protesters blocked Lekki-Ajah expressway after a tipper truck crushed a bike rider and his passenger to death.

The incident that took place at Eleganza by 2nd Toll Gate, by Chevron was caused after a vehicle hit a motorcyclist who rode against the traffic.

As a result, a tipper ran into them, crushing the two to death. Not happy with the incident, street urchins popularly called Area boys blocked the road with used tyres, setting bonfire which disrupted vehicular movement that extended to Sangotedo axis.

Other motorcyclists, also joined in the protest that played out setting the tipper ablaze, a witnessed recounted.

However, some of the protesters match to Oluwa nishola Estate, owned by Okoya Thomas making attempt to invade the compound.

Due to the quick intervention of the police and reenforcement that came led by Area Commander, ACP Jide Agboola, Commander, RRS, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi , Chairman, Lagos Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye and DPOs of stations around the area, what would have been a calamitous situation was averted.

In the process, they made several arrest and impounded several motorcycles. At the moment, the road has been cleared of bonfire and all manner of blockages experienced earlier.

Policemen have taken over the place as vehicular movement has been restored from inward and outward Ajah.
