Child Dedication: Bayelsa Deputy Governor Warns Youth Against Abortion

Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has advised Nigerians, especially the youth to resist the temptation of indulging in abortion as it has grave consequences  upon a family, state and nation.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo gave the advice while speaking as special guest at a reception ceremony shortly after the dedication of a set of twins, Iyondodei and Peace Kia, children of the Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Chief Nigeria Kia, at Edepie in Yenagoa.

The Deputy Governor, in a statement by his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi, posited that life does not only begin at conception but that every child’s right to life must be seen as sacred in line with biblical scriptures and traditional norms.

He said impatience and man’s drive to do both God’s work and his is the reason many are denied divine blessings, and therefore, urged the people to emulate the Kia family by totally depending on God while seeking solutions to their earthly challenges.

The Deputy Governor assured that the prosperity administration under Governor Douye Diri is divinely backed to bring about more sustainable prosperity in the state in the years ahead as evident in the achievements of the past two years.

He restated the need for the people to think positively and join hands with the government to build bridges and expand the infrastructure base and human capital development of the state.

While congratulating the Kia Family on the safe birth of their twin children, the state Number Two Man appreciated God for graciously responding to the prayers, patience and faith of Chief Kia and his wife after twenty four years of marriage.

Speaking earlier at the Faith Word Christian Centre, Wife of the state Governor, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, who also thanked God for gifting the Kia Family with the set of twins, called on the congregation to always put their trust in God as He never forgets any of His children.

Mrs. Diri, however, charged the Kias to continue to hold fast unto God and urged Bayelsans to be positive minded in their thoughts and actions as negative confessions have negative impact.

Earlier, Chairman of the occasion and Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Chief Collins Cocodia equally expressed gratitude to God for remembering the Kias at His own time, stressing that God’s ways are not the ways of man.

In his remarks, Father of the twins and Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local government Council, Chief Ebidoughebofa-Nigeria Kia, was full of praises to God for His merciful kindness and blessings upon his family.

He applauded the Wife of the Governor, the Deputy Governor, political leaders, his colleagues, supporters,  friends and all who share in the joy of his family.

In his sermon, the Founding Pastor, Faith Word Christian Centre, Rev  Ayibapreye Kiyeri enjoined Christians to be mindful of the evil machinations of the devil and his agents to terminate destinies, adding that obedience to God’s word is a sure way to escaping satanic snares.
