Mbiama Communitiy Celebrates One Year Anniversary Of Enthronement Of Monarch

 

… Rewards illustrious Sons, Daughters

Mbiama Communitiy of Ahoada West local government area of Rivers state on Tuesday,28th December,2021 celebrated the one year anniversary of the enthronement of its paramount ruler,HRH Otovie Smith Sylvanus.

National Wire which monitored the event reports that it was colourful as there were cultural displays and awards presentation to the community’s illustrious Sons and Daughters both in the academia,politics, sports, business and financial institutions.

Amongst those who received awards from the community were the interim coordinator, presidential Amnesty programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd), Branch Controller, Central bank of Nigeria,Calabar, Mr Chuks Sokari, and former caretaker committee chairman,Ahoada West local government area,Hon. Karibo Wilson.

Others include, Professor Ezekiel Dikio of the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island,Amassoma in Bayelsa State and Professor (Mrs) Amalo Dibofori-Orji of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers state as well as Comrade Inime Karibo Wilson,the chief executive officer of Chris-Nime global services Ltd, Mr Tayo Olu,(an entrepreneur), Hon. Ayanate Dikio, former councilor, Ahoada West LGA Ward two who also doubles as the chairman, Mbiama Communitiy revenue generation committee and a UK based native of the community,Mr Simon Boma.

Speaking during the programme,the Mbiama monarch, Otovie Smith Sylvanus averred that all the awardees deserve an award from the community, saying that they have been contributing immensely towards the peace, growth and development of the community in respective ways.

National Wire learnt that Mbiama Communitiy,though not the headquarters of the Ahoada West LGA, is the commercial capital of the Council area,playing host to a flourishing market which serves the commercial need of no fewer than nine states of Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, chairman of the occasion, ESV. Ogah, George, noted that Mbiama has set a standard amongst Communities of the Engenni kingdom.

He lauded the community leadership for the initiative,saying that other communities should emulate Mbiama so that development in their various home towns can be fast tracked like Mbiama.

On his part, the CBN branch Controller and an awardee himself who was also guest of honour,Mr Chuks Sokari stated that the community even before his birth has hosted settlers from various walks of live who eked out their living due to the peace and progressive life styles of the Mbiama people.

He restated that the awards and achievements of the present leadership of the community were made possible because the community leadership consults all well meaning and experienced elites of the community irrespective of their location in taking key decisions affecting the community.

Sokari thanked the community for the award,reiterating that it would spur them to do more for the community, just as he described the community as the melting point of commerce and very peaceful amongst the comity of towns.

In the same vein,the Mbiama Communitiy in their opening remarks presented by their CDC, Chairman, Engineer Moore Sokari has called on government to provide the community with pave roads and other social amenities commensurate with the vault of wealth the government generates from the community.

The community said due to their location as a border Communitiy and commercial hub,Mbiama has become a semi-urban settlement,but however needs to develop beyond its present nomenclature, regretting that the lack of infrastructure has impeded the expected development of the community.
