…arrest three suspects with locally fabricated firearm

In order to thwart the bravery effrontery of kidnappers and armed robbers in Kuje, Tunganmaje and its border towns, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Babaji Sunday has deployed more Policemen to the axis to improve public safety and security.
As a result of this operation, three suspects identified as Yahaya Haruna, 40, Isah Haruna, 55, and Sani Mani, 70, all males have been arrested for illegal possession of firearms and complicity in violent crimes including kidnapping and armed robbery around Kuje and Tunganmaje axis of the FCT.
Disclosing the arrest in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adeh Josephine explained that Yahaya Haruna was arrested by operatives of the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit in Tunganmaje market on 29th September, 2021 while in possession of a locally fabricated firearm.
Investigations however revealed that Yahaya is a member of a notorious criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents in Tunganmaje community.
Similarly, Police operatives intercepted a vehicle loaded with food items being transported to an undisclosed location in Kuje area with two suspects arrested by the Police team.
According to a discreet investigation, the food items and other logistics were being transported to a location in Kuje already being monitored by the command following reports of activities of kidnappers in the area.
Meanwhile, CP Sunday has assured residents of FCT they would do everything within their powers to protect their lives and property. DSP Adeh added that all the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
