Major General Farouk Yahaya Is The New Chief Of Army Staff

A new Chief of Army Staff has been appointed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari.

He is Major General Farouk Yahaya.

Confirming the appointment on Thursday, the Director, Defence Information, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu said in a statement in Abuja said “prior to his appointment, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code named Operation HADIN KAI.

Major General Yahaya was born on the 5th January, 1966 in Sokoto and started his cadet training at the Nigerian Defence Academy on the 27th September, 1985. He was promoted to the rank of a major General on the 27 September, 2017
