Bayelsa State  Government Directs All Schools To Strictly  Adhere To  COVID-19 protocols.

….As government would no longer takes chances

The Bayelsa State Government has warned that Government will no longer condone the flagrant abuse of Covid-19 protocols amidst the second wave of the virus.

Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Gentle E. Emelah FCAI, FSM, FCIHRSM who came out with this while meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT)  in his office at the Education House, Ovom Yenagoa also cautioned that Government inspectors would be visiting schools any moment from now and any defaulting school would be  sanctioned, he however added that the government is also organizing a compulsory training for all principals in the state on the 2nd and 3rd of next month February 2021 and it is therefore mandatory for all principals to attend.

Speaking on the 14 days ultimatum given to the Government by the NUT, permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Comrade Walton Liverpool however appealed to the union to exercise more patience with the Government as their demands are being met with promotion already carried out waiting for implementation and regular payment of salaries and also the commissioner is  making plans for the union to meet with the Governor, Senator Douye Diri for the union to present their demands to him he believes the Government has shown commitment and will meet their demands.

Comrade Kalaama, J. Tonpre chairman, NUT Bayelsa State who spoke after the meeting said the 14 days ultimatum which the union issued to the Government comes to an end today, the union would give the government another 7  days before embarking on an industrial action.

 He however appealed to the Government to meet their demands within the 7days given to the Government.
