He explained that for fairness and justice to the North Central geo – political zone of the country since the current democratic dispensation in Nigeria from 1999 till date, the zone has not been able to have a shot at presidency,stressing that it was the turn of the zone to produce the President in the next political dispensation.
“We in the Kogi State House of Assembly, have resolved and endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello for 2023 Presidential election and we have agreed to consult all the states assemblies in the country for their support and subsequent votes, while we appeal to you all for your support in this crusade, ” he said .
The Speaker explained further that their State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has already agreed to contest, adding that he will surely make Nigerians proud considering his youthful age, energetic, focused, ambitious, doggedness, confidence, stability and exemplary leadership style to impact positively on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Kolawole further disclosed that South-West, South -South, North- West, and North- East geo-political zones have had their turns, pointing out that only North- Central and South-East, out of the 6 geo – political zones of the country have not had a shot at the Presidency, adding that it was Kogi State’s turn from the North Central zone.
The Speaker, Kogi State House ofAssembly said that the team had earlier visited Bauchi, Plateau, Gombe, Ebonyi and Imo States to solicie for their supports for ‘2023 governor Yahaya Bello’s Presidential ambition’s project’.
He enumerated some of the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello’s achievements in Kogi State in the areas of security and curbing of bandits and other criminality, adding that the governor has entrenched peace and peaceful coexistence in the state that aught to earn him many awards to that effect.
Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole further revealed that the governor had made it necessary that women were made Vice chairman of over 20 LGAs and numerous female councillors devoid of religious sentiments at every level of his administration.
Also in the areas of civil service reforms that has made civil servants more productive and results oriented as well as health sector prioritized by his government and many others, adding that the pass of vote of confidence on the governor by the assembly and subsequent endorsement for 2023 presidency.
Responding, the Hon. Speaker,Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse reaffirmed Kogi State Governor’s endorsement and assured the Niger state’s support for the project’s realization come 2023, saying that that Kogi state’s governor was eminently qualified for the number one position in the country.
“I have adopted the affirmation of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state’s project for 2023 by my colleagues, it’s a worthy project for the North Central States and Nigeria as a whole, I assure you of our support but there is the need for North Central to harmonize its position to ensure the success of the project for the benefit of the country” he said.
Rt. Hon. Bawa Wuse who gave opportunity to one member of the assembly from the three zones and other assembly members to contribute thereby, unanimously endorsed the aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state come 2023.
They include Hon. Haruna Mohammad of Bida 2 from zone A, Hon. Ahmed Marafa of Chanchaga from zone B, Hon. Bashir Lokogoma of Wushishi from zone C and other contributors like Hon Bello Agwara who is a class mate to Kogi governor all declared full support for his aspiration.
In his vote of thanks, the Kogi state’s Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ahmed Mohammad representing Ankpa local government, expressed appreciation the bold step taken by Niger state assembly for the endorsement of their governor who have shown that he can really do it for Nigerians.
