About 17 people have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits in some three communities in Bassa/Kukoki Ward, in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State at the weekend .
The victims were said to have been abducted last Saturday night in Madagwa, Wongo and Marenje Communities respectively.
National Wires learnt that the bandits who were said to have been carrying sophisticated weapons and in large numbers allegedly invaded the communities at different times last Saturday night.
It was further learnt that five persons each were abducted from Wongo and Marenje communities while about seven other persons werealso abducted from Madagwa.
The Co-convener, Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki confirmed the incidents in a brief interview with our reporter by telephone at the weekend in Minna, the state capital, adding that the whereabouts of the victims were not yet ascertained as of the time of filing this report on Sunday.
He described the abductions as very disheartening and unfortunate, that it waquitw unfair and inhuman that the locals have been left to their fate.
Kokki however lamented that kidnappings and other related criminal activities have become the order of the day in the two local government areas of the state such as Rafi and Shiroro .
Further checks revealed that last Thursday, 20 persons from Duguru in Madaka Ward of Rafi local government area, of the state who were on their way to Madaka market were also abducted by the gunmen suspected to be armed bandits.
