Niger State government has directed all civil servants to stay at home from next Monday, 21stDecember, 2020.
This is to avert the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, following the increased number of cases in recent times.
The directive by the Governor, was contained in a Press statement signed by the Head of Service( HoS) Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar and widely circulated among the State civil servants on Thursday in Minna .
According to the statement, the workers were to stay at home till further notice.
The directive however excludes workers on essential services, adding that the State has recorded 302 cases of COVID-19, with 12 deaths.
About 17 local government areas of the State were said to have so far recorded cases of the virus.
It could be recalled that on November 9, 2020, the State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello had confirmed he had tested positive for COVID-19. But a week later and precisely on December 16, 2020 the Governor revealed he had recovered from the virus.
