With the alarming rate of proliferation of driving schools in Bayelsa state,the board of Directors and management of one of the state’s foremost privately owned Driving institutions, Chelok Drive Academy has called for professionalism in the training of Drivers on roads within and outside the state.
A member of the board of Directors of Chelok Drive Academy, Mr Okoye Elisus made the call yesterday while speaking with Journalists in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital during the latter’s facts finding visit to driving schools in the state.
Mr. Elisus who revealed that Chelok Drive Academy is a subsidiary of the Chelok works global Ltd said the driving school over the years has trained and churned out many professional drivers and driving instructors in and around the state.
He noted that outside the training of drivers, the academy has also provided their graduands with jobs,saying that their clientele base cut across manufacturing industries, whole sale and retail companies as well as public office holders.
Elisus said the academy which has no fewer than 16 training vehicles and 20 instructors also stands as the biggest driving school in the state and the second largest in the South-South geopolitical zone, noting that Chelok Drive Academy also doubles as a licensed speed limit vendor.
According to him,as part of the academy’s corporate social responsibility, in 2019 Chelok trained no fewer than 100 drivers free of charge,insisting that the cooperation between the academy and the Federal Road Safety Corps over the years has been cordial.
The board of Directors said an average of 70 trainees are admitted into the academy per month,just as he said on monthly bases trainees are graduated from the institution,alleging that their challenges include the narrow roads in the Yenagoa metropolis which he insisted are not too favourable for the learning of driving,amongst others.
Also relaying their takes to our sources,the trio of Mr Ikenna Odurukwe,an instructor,Mr Eniya Richard and Mr Elessa George trainees respectively expressed delight that Chelok was living up to its billings and expectations of both her trainees and instructors.
The trio promised that they would continue to be worthy Ambassadors of the Chelok Drive Academy,maintaining that patience, obedience to safety rules and regulations are the watchwords of obtaining professionalism as a driver.
