Nemesis has caught up with a notorious Kidnapper identified as Abubakar Ibrahim, 19, as he has been arrested by the police in Katsina state.
The suspect whose arrest was made possible based on credible intelligence was said to be living at Rugu forest in Safana Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner of Police,
Katsina State in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah explained that on the 8th September, 2020 about 17:50hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Abubakar, a notorious member of Bandits and kidnap for ransom syndicate who has been terrorizing Safana, Batsari, Danmusa and Kurfi LGAs of Katsina state.
Abubakar was said to have on the 3rd September, 2020 and 7th September, 2020 respectively, led other members of his syndicate on motorbikes while all were armed with AK 47 rifles, and attacked Dagarawa and Kudewa villages both of Safana and Kurfi LGAs of the state respectively and kidnapped one Ashiru Ibrahim, 32, of Dagarawa village, Safana LGA of Katsina state.
Others they also kidnapped included, Duduwa Audu, 50, and Asiya Saleh, 45, a female both of kudewa village, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state and took them into Rugu forest.
On how he was arrested, the police explained that “nemesis caught up with the suspect, when he fell into a bobby trap, and was apprehended by SARS operatives, after he had collected the sum of N241,000 ransom from the relatives of the victims.
“In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence along with others (now at large.)
“The sum of N241,200:00K ransom was recovered in his possession. However, today 10th September, 2020 about 0930hrs, the Command succeeded in rescuing the victims.
“They have been reunited with their families after given them treatment at the Kurfi General Hospital,” the police reiterated in the statement.
Investigations are said to be ongoing while the police is working vigorously to arrest the fleeing members of the gang
