Nigerian Professor Of Infectious Diseases Dies Of COVID-19

A Professor of Infectious Diseases, Lovett Lawson, has died of COVID-19.

Lawson, who was until his demise, Chairman, Board of Directors, Zankli Medical Centre, Abuja, died in quarantine at the National Hospital, Abuja, on Monday.

According to reports, the late Professor had underlying diseases that made him succumb to the virus.

Lawson graduated from the University of Lagos in 1975, before bagging a PhD from the University of Liverpool.

His area of expertise was clinical tropical medicine.

When contacted, the spokesman for the National Hospital, Dr Tayo Haastrup, confirmed Lawson’s passing on Monday evening.
