Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Primary Election Committee in Edo State and governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has declared Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu winner of the party’s primary election in the south south state on Monday.
According to Uzodinma, the election was organised in line with the rules and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a monitored report on Rhythm 93.7FM Lagos, Ize-Iyamu scored a total of 27,838 votes at the election and returned as winner of the primary election to fly the party’s flag at the main election later in the year.
It would be recalled that the state governor, Godwin Obaseki last week decamped from the APC to pick a membership form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amidst controversy trailing his disqualification at the screening exercise ahead of the primary election which eventually held today.
Aggrieved Obaseki who left the party with his deputy and other members of the party would contest the primary election of the PDP to run for the governorship election.
In a related development, the Ondo State deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi on Sunday also defected to the PDP as the state’s governorship election approaches. It is a season of defections and only time would tell what happens before, during and after the governorship election of the two neighboring states.
