Funke Akindele, Husband Plead Guilty, Sentenced, For Quarantine

Popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello, have been penalised for disobeying the Lagos State rules on restriction of movement in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The duo had organised a party in their Lekki, Lagos home which attracted their workers and friends totalling above 20 persons despite the state government’s announcement that any gathering above 20 persons must not hold in order to curtail the spread of the disease.
A Chief Magistrates’ Court 1 in Ogba, Lagos
on Monday has however sentenced the actress and her husband to 14-day community service.
The couple was charged with violation of the COVID-19 restriction order in Lagos State for organising the birthday party at their residence.
The couple pleaded guilty to the charge while the Magistrate, Mrs Aje Afunwa, also ordered them to pay N100,000 fine,.
According to the Magistrate, failure to comply with any aspect of the ruling would attract stiffer penalty.
The ruling gave that the duo must spend three hours of each day of the community service, excluding Saturday and Sunday, visiting 10 important public places within Lagos State to educate the public on the consequences of non compliance with the restriction order.
Meanwhile, the Court also ruled that names and telephone numbers of attendees of the party must be submitted as they must all be quarantined with the couple by the state government.
