Management of Peace Mass transit, Yenagoa branch has said they are still waiting for Justice to take its course over the brutal murder of their driver, late Mr Ugwu Ikechukwu by a policeman attached to the Ekeki-Yenagoa branch of Fidelity bank early this year.
These assurances were given Tuesday by the branch manager of the transportation company, Mr. Emmanuel Chinedu while speaking with Journalists.
According to the manager who was in a visibly mourning mode, while the late Ikechukwu has since been buried last Saturday what remains of peace Mass transit is to continue collaborating with other sympathizers to bring the full wrath of the law on the gun-totting policeman who shot the innocent driver dead in cold blood.
“We’re mourning, but I thank all sympathizers for standing by us throughout this period. Just like you Journalists who are here interested in this sad story, there are many more others, NGOs and more who are also interested in how the Government and we here are handling the matter.
I want to tell you that we’re waiting for Justice to be done.” He said.
Chinedu reiterated the company’s willingness to continue rendering the best of transit business to their customers, allaying fears that the police who were paid to protect lives and properties have instead become murderers of innocent people.
On the contributions of Fidelity bank on the matter, the manager mentioned that the bank outside footing the Hospital bills where the deceased was initial being treated before his demise, has also been responsible in taking care of one other wounded passenger onboard the vehicle when the incident occurred, restating that the financial institution has also made promises of reaching-out to families of the deceased and the other victim still hospitalised.
Chinedu appreciated all those who attended the funeral of the slain driver, reaffirming their believe in the Judiciary as the temple of Justice,just as he said information made available to his office by the Bayelsa state police command has it that the killer policeman has since been temporarily dismissed from service and detained in prison custody pending when trial will commence.
It would be recalled that in the early hours of Friday 10th January, 2020 a police officer posted at the Ekeki branch of the Fidelity bank, Yenagoa during an argument on wrong packing shot dead a passenger driver, Mr. Ugwu Daniel Ikechukwu of the Peace Mass transit company.
