Bayelsa Guber Race: Accord Party Candidate Raises Hope For 24/7 Power Supply

Candidate of the Accord Party in the forthcoming  Bayelsa State Governorship Polls, Barr Ebizimo Diriyai says if elected as Governor come November 16th the near absent and intermittent power blackout in the State would be a thing of the past.

Diriyai stated this Wednesday in Yenagoa during a media chat with Newsmen in Yenagoa, harping that countries world over have achieved this feat through exploration and exploitation of alternative sources of energy.

The Kaiama-born Lawyer and Politician restated his willingness to utilize his wealth of experience as a private business man to better the lots of Bayelsans.

According to the Accord Party Standard bearer, the creeks and rivers abound in the state are not only tourist delight in terms of their aquatic creatures but that 24 hours power generation can be harnessed for the socio-economic advancement of the State.

Diriyai who described himself as one with both public and private sector experience to Govern the State stressed the need for Bayelsans to show unnecessary criticisms of past administrations of the State, saying he would concentrate rather on solving the problems bedeviling the state.

He said, “the power challenges of the state will be thing of the past if I am elected as Governor. I would build wind turbines, hydro turbines and additional gas turbines to forestall electricity challenges in Bayelsa State. Our findings revealed that about 10 – 15 megawatts of wind or hydro turbine can power 1000 houses, while 15 – 20 megawatts would power more than 3000 households, so my Government would totally solve the power problem so investors can come to invest in the State.”

Speaking against the backdrop of labeling the State as an insecure place, the Accord Party candidate maintained that the phenomena of insecurity is comparative and has lately assumed a global outlook.

The Governorship Standard bearer emphasized that the most insecure places in the world are now the best tourist destinations, just as he reiterated his desire to partner those countries which have taking advantage of their level of insecurity to develop high tech gadgets to combat crime and criminality, noting that with him as Governor the State will be safer and peaceful.

Also fielding questions about unemployment and joblessness, Diriyai promised to use his contacts spreading across various destinations of the world to invite donors and world class institutions to partner the state in creating jobs for citizens of the state. He emphasized that petrochemical refineries, fertilizer plants and other gigantic infrastructural projects would be executed alongside massive urban renewal to make the state befitting for livelihood.
