Management of Revolution Plus Property Development Company Limited has donated a plot of land in Lagos to the family of Precious Owolabi, the youth corp member attached to Channels Television killed in Abuja during the Police/Shiite face-off recently.
The real estate company announced the donation during the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award yesterday at the B Event Hall by Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The well attended award ceremony is the 13th edition in the series featuring various categories of the award presentations.
The company which aims to be the number one real estate company in Nigeria according to its management says it is a people empowered company that plays significant role in solving housing deficit in Nigeria.
Apart from its role in solving housing deficit in Nigeria, the company has gone a step ahead by rewarding the late Owolabi who lived a short but eventful life.
According to the company, the landed property is at Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos and it would go well in immortalising the young man.
Chief executive officer of Revolution Plus, Bamidele Onalaja had earlier said the heroic act of the young journalist must not be forgotten.
Also at the event, representative of the head of Channels Television, Mr. John Momoh, commended Precious Owolabi who was serving the nation with the Channels Television Abuja when the sad event happened.
“Precious was precious to us but we regret he had to leave. We thank you so much for this honour,” he thanked the real estate company and organisers of the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award who awarded Precious Owolabi as winner of the Post-Humous reporter of the year award at the event.
A minute silence was observed in honour of the departed young man whose father fought tears while the minute silence lasted.
Anchor of the colourful event, ace broadcaster, Yemi Sodimu prayed the Lord Almighty grants the family and the media the fortitude to bear the loss.
National Wire‘s Crime Editor, Folake Sokoya emerged Crime Writer of the Year at the presentation.
