In last minute preparation for primaries, the All Progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial aspirants screening committee, headed by Mr. Isa Song Saturday screened the party’s guber aspirants for Bayelsa state in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Speaking to newsmen, shortly after the exercise was concluded Song said in consonance with the party’s constitution and resolve to conducting free and fair primary election, the national secretariat of the party inaugurated his committee to carry out the screening of guber aspirants of the party in the state, stressing that the APC is the only alternative to develop Bayelsa state and Nigeria as a whole.

Amongst those screened as governorship aspirants were oil and gas mogul, Mr. David Lyon, former minister of state for Agriculture, senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Eng. Preye Aganaba and commissioner of police (Mrs.) Deseye Nsirim-Poweigha (rtd). Also screened were prof. (Mrs) Ngoebi Etebu, Dr. Frankland Briyai and Prince Ebitimi Amgbare.

Meanwhile, some ex-Niger Delta agitators have thrown their weight behind the guber ambition of David Lyon. In an interview with journalists, one of the ex-militant leaders, Mr. Reuben Wilson, popularly called general pastor, the ex-agitators said their resolve to back Lyon’s aspirant ship is borne out of the fact that the guber hopeful is noted for making ends meet for Bayelsans. The ex-agitators said even when David Lyon is not holding public office nor has declared interest to run for the guber he has no fewer than 6000 Bayelsans on his pay role as employees.

Wilson emphasized that Lyon’s ambitions has sent jitters into the camps of the Peoples Democratic Party, noting that if he emerges as the APC governorship candidate in the forth coming primaries, the governorship election proper would be a walk-over.
