Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Mrs. Folashade Jaji, has urged journalists within the state to be fair and objective in reporting the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.
Jaji, made the call during a courtesy and congratulatory visit by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos Chapter for her appointment into office.
She said it was important that journalists collaborate with the state government by reporting what had been done and what was underway, for the state to develop.
“Help the new administration to give information on what the government is doing and intends to do and also follow up on our activities.
“Where there are gaps, criticise us constructively, rather than report us negatively, the new administration is a listening government and would address all issues,” she said.
Jaji noted that journalists should also amplify the THEME executive order of the state governor which include: Traffic, Health, Education, Management and Environment towards achieving a greater Lagos.
She lauded the new NAWOJ executives for their professional commitments and hunger for progress in the state.
The SSG commended the women journalists for the initiative and participation in the upcoming breastfeeding week, annually held in the month of August.
“I am happy to know that you are part of the breastfeeding week despite your busy schedules, as this would be a contribution to the development of the state.
“I am happy to receive you as women who are professionally inclined with a feeling to help in the development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“We need to work with you and get your support in terms of propagating our Corporate Social Responsibility,” she said.
According to her ,all hands must be on deck to support Gov. Sanwo-Olu realise the greater Lagos he campaigned for.
Jaji however appealed to Lagos State residents to be patient with the new government, as effort was in top gear to address the problem of bad roads and traffic, among other issues.
In her address, Mrs. Adeola Ekine, Chairman ,NAWOJ Lagos Chapter congratulated the SSG for her appointment into office ,while promising her of the Association’s support.
Ekine told Jaji that the Women journalists would give the state government the needed necessary support and be objective in their reports.
“We are hopeful to get the necessary support and advise we need from you as a grandmother, mother, and sister and also tap from your wealth of experience,” she said.
Other members of the NAWOJ Executive present at the event were: Bunmi Yekini, Vice -Chairman, Lillian Ario, Secretary, Abosede Adelaja, Assistant Secretary, Olawunmi Sherifat -Shittu ,Treasurer and Rukayat Adeyemi, Auditor.
