The Bayelsa state independent electoral commission, BYSIEC says it would go ahead with the conduct of the state local government election as scheduled.
This was made known to journalists recently in Yenagoa during a stake holders meeting organized by the commission.
According to the electoral umpire’s acting chairman, Dr. Remember Ogbe, that a group of aggrieved individuals sought to stop the commission from conducting the election on the August 10th date earlier scheduled does not bar BYSIEC, from holding the election, emphasizing that the commission has not been served any court order, hence the polls would hold.
Speaking on the commission’s state of preparedness, BYSIEC said they have been working round the clock to conduct free, fair and credible election.
You would recall that a political party, National rescue movement, NRM had recently sought for an order from Abuja federal high court restraining the Bayelsa State independent electoral commission, BYSIEC from conducting the August 10th local government election.
