The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, has charged youths in Somolu communities to get involved in community activities and hold their education in high esteem.
The council boss through his representative stated this on Sunday night at the grand finale of Miss Somolu Beauty Pageant with 21 beauty queens representing the major streets of Somolu.
Streets that were represented include Okesuna, Adebiyi, Fola Agoro, Apata, Oyebajo, Oguntolu, Anifowoshe, Sholanke amongst others.
Salawu, popularly known as Dullar in his address stated that Somolites are known to be people with inner and outer beauty with great character and intelligence.
“I can, with a sense of joy, say that we are very intelligent and are blessed with good characters in Somolu community,” he said.
He added that the Local Government would be sponsoring the best three beauty queens who are presently studying at their various higher institutions.
Meanwhile, in her acceptance speech, Oliver Florence representing Fola Agoro who emerged Miss Somolu 2019 said that she will work for the progress of Somolu.

I have contested before now but did not even make the top five but today, I give God the glory and I am feeling good to have been crowned as a Queen at last. “I plan to empower the youth with my new status,” Oliver stated.
The elated winner went home with a branded new car, while Cornerstone Insurance presented cheques of N200,000 to the second runner-up, Miss Adebiyi (Taiwo Olaide) and N100,000 to Miss Ibukunola (Eniola Idowu) the first runner-up.
Among eminent personalities at the well attended event include Hon.Adeleke Adekoya and Hon Taiwo Ojomu who received an award as ‘Mr. Innovative.’
