Court Orders Immediate Reopening Of AIT And Raypower FM

Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Nigerian capital has ordered the immediate reopening of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM.

The court ordered that parties in the the matter brought before it should maintain the statusquo as the situation was as at the 31st of May, 2019 when the processes in the case were filed.

The matter has been adjourned to the next week Thursday, which is the 13th of June for the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) that is the defendant in the case to show cause why the order should not be granted.

The two second largest television and radio networks in the country were shutdown Thursday night by the Commission over allegations of violation of the NBC Act and the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The NBC under the leadership of its Director-General Modibbo Kawu is yet to react to the new development.
