INEC prepares for River’s re-run election

Ahead of the 19th March re-run election in River State, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has started despatching non-sensitive materials for the election.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak said on Tuesday that the sensitive materials including ballot papers and result sheets would start arriving the state from today.

Ikoiwak stated further that, the training of ad-hoc staff for the elections was still ongoing in the Local Government Areas. “We are working, receiving materials and sending especially non sensitive to the local government areas. “We are hoping that it will be a peaceful election. We are still training some of the adhoc staff in the local government areas. You know we have a timeline. We will be through with training collation officers soon as well”, he said.
