Bayelsa state house of Assembly candidate of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) for Ogbia constituency III and foremost former student leader, Hon Eda Benjamin Otami penultimate Monday hinted our sources on why he cross carpeted from the social Democratic Party (SDP)to the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP).
The erstwhile national Senate President of the Ogbia students (worldwide) in a chat with newsmen shortly after a closed door meeting with his support groups in the constituency intimated our medium that the SDP lacks the principles of Freedom and Justice for the oppressed and down trodden, emphasizing that he has formerly notified the Bayelsa state chapter of the SDP of his exit from the party after the party’s primaries which he alleged were tilted to favour certain aspirants.
Benjamin who described the FJP as a young party where the ideals of democracy are practiced maintained that the party has fielded candidates with impeccable characters for the forth coming elections, saying that power comes from God alone, hence, his victory is sure.
The Assembly candidate while eulogizing the efforts of his supporters and party members alike for standing by him called on youths of his constituency to maintain peace and live above boards as the 2019 election will be a panacea for measuring Nigeria’s ability to conduct free, fair and globally acceptable polls.
Benjamin said, “though campaigns have not officially started, but I would work towards peace and unity of my constituency, provide scholarships and academic packages and awards for the three best students of every community in the constituency and also develop sports in the area, I will also encourage tourism and work to make sure there is steady power supply in the area if I am elected.”
