The Social Democratic Party SDP, Bayelsa State says it may soon conduct primary elections within the stipulated time frame of the extant electoral laws and guidelines.
Speaking with journalists, Monday in Yenagoa, secretary of the state chapter of the party Engineer Oribo Nanie Einstein said the state secretariat of the party recently has become the busiest of all political parties’ offices in the state as scores thronged the secretariat picking election nomination forms for different offices.
Oribo maintained that the Social Democratic Party which in the past was relatively known in the state is a older than most of the gladiator parties in the state, emphasizing that virtually all the state and national Assembly constituencies and senatorial districts have multiples of aspirants vying for positions under the party’s platform.
According to the Ogbia-born politician, the SDP has not just giving out nomination forms to aspirants, saying all persons who have taken these forms are credible, saleable and would emerge victorious in their respective elective positions after the party’s primaries.
While re-emphasizing the need for credible polls in 2019, the Engineer-turned SDP scribe called on the Bayelsa electorates to vote en mass for all candidates who would fly the SDP flag come 2019.
Meanwhile, Engineer Oribo has counteracted insinuations that the social Democratic Party Bayelsa state is already paving way for a Guber aspirant on its platform.
The party secretary said the Bayelsa Governorship elections is still far from the forthcoming polls, stressing that the SDP leadership in the state is preoccupied with plans for the 2019 legislative elections in the state, maintaining that their desire is to play constructive roles where necessary for the present administration in the state.
