FG Planning To Frame Atiku For Herdsmen Attacks—Group

The Atiku Renaissance Group (ARG)
has said it has discovered a plot by the Presidency to acuse the Presidential hopeful in the 2019 general elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for sponsoring the incessant herdsmen killings across the nation.

ARG said in a statement on Thursday that the Federal Government has been planning to hatch its ploy by opening “phony accounts in Atiku name linking a funding scheme between the accounts and militias from North Africa.”

According to the Secretary-General of ARG,Awwal Tahir, on June 25, 2018, the body received intelligence report from trusted personnel of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) of the “grand” plot by top politicians within the Presidency.

He said ARG was presented with documents detailing the same plot by personnel of another intelligence agency last week to link the “unabating herdsmen attacks across the country to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.”

ARG said before the second report, it had decided to keep calm so as not to heighten “the already tension-soaked political atmosphere across the country” and that it was hoping that the proponents of this “evil plot will perhaps give room for their conscience and look for a potent solution to ending the massacres across the country rather than take an easy road of politicizing their obvious security failures.”

It revealed further that “the detailed reports also showed written and video confession of intelligence agents disguised as arrested herdsmen linking the former Vice President to the attacks across Nigeria.

“We find this sinister plot as obnoxious, the height of crude politics, a decimation of our societal values and conscious assault of our hard earned democracy. It is distasteful the level politicians are now willing to go to in order to hold on to power even without legitimacy.”

ARG,therefore, emphasised that “Waziri Adamawa does not in any way have any connection whatsoever with any militia or herdsmen group anywhere in the world.”

It also urged the Federal Government to direct same time and resources deployed into perfecting “this evil endeavour” to proffer solutions to the consistent attacks across the country to make the lives of Nigerians count for something.
