At Last, Buhari Signs 2018 Budget …As Saraki, Dogara Absent

President Muhammadu Buhari has eventually signed the 2018 Budget into law, saying inspite of late passage of the budget, he would do his best to implement the 2018 budget.

Meanwhile, at a signing ceremony that took place in one of the President’s offices, Presidential Villa in Abuja, Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara were absent.

Senate President was however represented by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn N’Alla, while the Speaker of the House of Representatives was represented by the Chief Whip, Ado Dogowa.

Speaking at the occasion, the President frowned at the the delay and reduction of the budget by the lawmakers, Buhari expresssed his determination “to work with the National Assembly towards improving the budgeting process and restoring our country to the January-December fiscal cycle.”

According to him, “When I submitted the 2018 Budget proposals to the National Assembly on 7th November 2017, I had hoped that the usual legislative review process would be quick, so as to move Nigeria towards a predictable January-December financial year…”
