Despite decades of neglect, the chiefs and people of Gbaramatu Kingdom turned out agog during the week long Egbesu festival and a 2-year anniversary of His Royal Majesty, (HRM) King Oboro Gbaraun.
At the grand finale of the festival which took place at the play ground of the Gbaramatu Head Quarters, Oporoza, King Gbaraun said, “the relative peace we have recorded within the period have made it possible for the extraction of more crude-oil.
“Relocation of heard quarters of oil multinational corporations to their areas of operations as also directed by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in 2017 will also do well.
“The Modular Refinery we have earnestly sought after, appeared to be on the right track to seeing the light of day and we would deem it a joy, when the pipe lines would start churning out crude oil.
“This has resulted in a higher barrel per day out-put, and by extraction, more revenue to the coffers of the Federal Government.
“Although we are happy to announce the commencement of academic activities of the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko by the federal government, the twin projects of Oporoza Palace Road and the Kings Landing Jetty are indeed sights that will gladden the heart of the people when completed.
“We look forward to the establishment of community radio station, provision of potable drinking water by erecting bore holes in all communities in the area and provision of electricity in every community to the national grid.
“The ultimate solution to the plethora of problems facing the Nation is restructuring”. Gbaraun ascertained.
The Commissioner Representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality at the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Favour Izoukumor while addressing the press at Oporoza said, the Kingdom has experienced tremendous change within the 2years reign of Oboro Gbaraun.
Chief Izoukumor said, he believed that Gbaramatu kingdom will work in synergy with other kingdoms especially in the area of human capacity development.
On her part, a female chief, conferred with another chieftaincy title, chief Tambower expressed satisfaction over her frog leap to a higher position hinting that her antecedent’s for the past few years as a party woman leader is the idea behind.
Other side attractions include dance performances from Amassoma Traditional Dance troop, Amasinkumo Traditional Dance Troop and Benikurukuru Traditional Dance.
