NPA MD At Onne Port Stakeholders Forum, Inspect Tug Boat

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman has reiterated her commitment to sustain periodic engagement with stakeholders in the sector.

 Addressing Onne Port Stakeholders on Thursday, Bala Usman explained that the engagement is aimed at promoting efficiency and business development.
Represented by the Executive Director,Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello-Koko,Bala Usman disclosed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the purchase of special patrol boats as part of measures to boost security.
The Managing Director also used the opportunity to inspect a tug boat refurbished by Starz Marine Engineering Limited.
The contract was awarded in March 2017 for the dry dock machinery repairs.
Accompanied by Dr. Sokonte H. Davies Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Professor Idris Abubakar, Executive Director – Engineering and Technical Services, among others, urged stakeholders to support ongoing development in the sector.
Citing ongoing improvements in facilities at Onne Port Complex, the stakeholders commended the Managing Director  for her dedication.
Some of the improvement highlighted by the stakeholders  include illumination of port access gate and common user area at FLT, deployment of patrol vehicles,  ongoing rehabilitation of the fire service, general improvement in interaction and reported plan to deploy more tug boats among others.
