Nigerian Customs Seize 6,206 Bags Of Rice In Lagos

The Nigerian Customs on Monday has seized 6,206 bags of foreign parboiled rice in Lagos worth over N105,000,000 in cash.

Deputy Comptroller, Nigerian Customs, Mr. Dauda Ashigye and Comptroller Mohammed U. Garba briefed the Nigerian press on the seized bags of rice in Lagos.

Smugglers have continued to make series of attempts to flood Nigeria with goods which are known to be contraband especially rice.

Rice for instance has been the major smuggled food item despite that the food item is now largely grown locally.

If smugglers are not checked, local farmers of rice who are now supplying over 60% of the produce into the Nigerian markets would suffer patronage.
