Police invites Davido over Tagbo’s death

The Lagos Commissioner of Police Wednesday evening told newsmen at the Force Headquarters that the force has invited star artiste David Adeleke alias Davido for questioning over the death of Tagbo, one of his crew member.

The Commissioner of Police confirmed Tagbo Umeike was indeed brought in dead according to the Doctor at the General Hospital on Lagos Island.

This aligns with allegations by Caroline Danjuma who was the deceased’s girlfriend that he died in the car in company of David Adeleke.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi has said that he decided to wade into the rumor going round surrounding the death of the deceased to avoid speculations as the case was a sensitive one.

According to him, he explained that he first had to call for a pre-investigation meeting which was attended by the actress, Caroline Danjuma who claimed to be the late Tagbo’s fiancée. Family members and friends of the deceased and David Adeleke too were present.

“From the meeting it was established that the deceased met and drank with friends including Davido at shisha bar on the said date.

“The Bar tender, who was present at the meeting confirmed that the deceased drank up to 40 cups of tequila and exhibited signs of intoxication,” the CP explained.

He stated further that the CCTV footage from the bar also showed Tagbo was quarrelsome and violent.

Imohimi pointed out that Davido claimed he left the venue without Tagbo for another night club, club DNA and that it was there that he received the sad news of Tagbo’s death.

Further Investigation, according to the CP showed that one Tunde Yusufu, a driver of a white escort vehicle, one Agbaje Olaoye and one other person took the deceased, Tagbo to the hospital and abandoned him on David’s instruction.

Imohimi made it known that the CCTV also captured all their deliberations and the escort vehicle that was driven by these persons was also recovered at the resident of David Adeleke.

“This debunks Davido’s claims that he didn’t know how Tagbo got to general hospital and this revelations necessitated us to re-invite Davido for questioning to explain why he dumped Tagbo without any attempt to meet with the Doctor.

The CP also confirmed that Autopsy carried out on the late Tagbo showed he died of suffocation.
