Visually Impaired Guitarist Launches Band in Lagos

A visually impaired gospel artiste, Simeon Fujamade has launched his gospel music band in Lagos.

Christened CIMI FUJA Music Ministries, also known as Simeon Fujamade Music Ministries is led by singer and guitarist, Simeon Fujamade.

Speaking after the launch of the band at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Sanctuary of Grace, Omole, Lagos, Fujamade told National Wire the reason for the band.

“This band is for populating the kingdom of God by propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. Propagating the gospel goes beyond carrying Bible. If you look at the world today, what is the devil using to win soul? And we all know Jesus will not come until the gospel is preached,” he said.

Fujamade also added that, “In today’s world, people like entertainment and comedy there are churches who organize programs for comedians in Church. Propagating the gospel is not about looking for money though we need the money but the gospel being propagated goes beyond looking for money.”

Talking about how the band was assembled, the guitarist recalled when he once ministered at the Lets Go a Fishing program of the RCCG. “There was a time I went for this Lets Go A Fishing program, when one of my brothers saw my ministration he advised I should have a band and then God brought brother Dele who today is my manager.” “Brother Dele helped to speak to the band members and by the grace of God it is growing large. God is helping us, wheat we are going is propagating the gospel, and God will help us to get sponsors.”

Though visually impaired, Simeon Fujamade grew to love music despite his disability. “Music has been my passion since my primary school days even before I became more spiritual I had loved music. I stayed with my grandmother as a little child, I had loved music since then,” he recalled.

“I thank God for my mother who determined that I would become somebody in life. She said she would not abandon her child despite his disability. I am not the only visually impaired person. There was a man who is now a millionaire, they threw him in the dustbin but he was rescued and he is a millionaire today,” he said, encouraging people living with disabilities not to give up on themselves.

“There was a man born blind, Jesus said it happened so that the glory of God may be made manifest not that the man sinned. He does things as He wills and no man can query. Him that is why we are here today and He has done what only He can do,” he said.

Appreciating his mother’s input in his life and ministry, Fujamade could still recall turbulent periods brought by his disability but he is now appreciating God that such days are over. Advising parents of children living with disabilities to support their special children. “I am telling people not to allow their challenges weigh them down. Everybody has challenges, every nation has challenges.”

In his comment, Fujamade’s manager, Oluwabamidele told National Wire that managing a visually impaired artiste is only possible through God’s help.

“It is just God, humanly speaking I was discouraged when we started but I just had to encourage myself in the Lord like David did. Likewise along the line he was even giving up saying how would he go about it but there was a song he sang saying ‘I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.’ After then I  just saw a rapid improvement in him he can sing well and he can play the guitar well,” he explained.

The manager also stated his client’s uniqueness. “Learning the guitar really inspired his career. He can sing on timing and professionally even the whole world is celebrating him on the first concert we organized for him, the turnout was impressive. We had close to 100 people at the concert. I know sky is not his limit.”

In formation of the band, the manager also stated the efforts involved. “Assembling the band was not an easy task too. This is because we used professional hands, the band members are professionals but they saw his vision, talent and passion in him so they could easily identify and support the vision.”

Also at the event, Fujamade’s elated mother was full of praises to God. “I feel so joyful today. Indeed my joy overflow because of what God has done for my son which people have believed he cannot become anything. God has elevated me and He has elevated my son because I walk with Him,” she said, adding that, “God gave me the assurance that if I believe I would see His glory and truly I have seen the glory of God and I see truly there is ability in disability and I have decided I will serve Him for the rest of my life because nobody can do what He has done for me.”

Advising mother of special children, Mrs. Fujamade said, “My little advise for mothers in my shoes especially mothers of physically challenged children is that they should not give up, they should keep hope alive. When you hope for something it will come to pass because the Bible says I know the plans I have towards you they are thoughts of good and not of evil.” “We should not write anybody off, God has not written us off, Jesus said blessed is she that believeth because there shall be a performance of the things that he has promised.”
