Against the backdrops of the official launch of the “Bail is free Campaign” in the Niger State Police Command on Wednesday at the “B” Division of the Command in Minna, the state capital, the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Kpotun Idris has directed the “X Squad” of the force to monitor the implementation nationwide .
“The X squad of the Nigerian Police force has been dispatched to all the states of the federation to monitor compliance to bail is free campaign and given power to arrest, detain and discipline any erring Police Officer”
IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris who gave the directive also instructed that the campaign should be replicated in the 36 states of the federation. .
The Boss, explained that the bail is free campaign policy was introduced to stamp out corruption among the personnel of the force, saying that “his management team pay special attention to issues of corruption allegation most especially as it concerns bail of suspects in police custudy”
The IGP said in the speech read on his behalf by the Force Public Relations Officer Mr. Jimoh Moshud, a Chief Superintendent of Polce {CSP} said “the force had embarked on “aggressive community and people oriented engagement to bring the Nigeria Police Force closer to the people with the view to ensure effective service delivery to all Nigerians “
He stressed that the eminent persons forum which is a platform to strengthen the community policing strategies to tackle ethnic, religious and communal disputed and crisis.
He warned that any police personnel found wanting would be punished according to laid down procedures, adding that it was a departure from the past.
Meanwhile, in his earlier remarks at the occasion, the Niger State Police Commissioner, Mr Austin Iwero Agbonlahor , stated that the flag off of the Bail is Free Campaign at the “B” Division , Paikoro road, under the state Police Command Headquarters yesterday was part of IGP’s resolve to key into the Nigeria Police Force’s creed .
