Man in his 40s hurt after falling from World Trade Center balcony

A man in his 40s was rushed to the hospital in serious condition on Tuesday, after falling over a balcony at the World Trade Center transit hub in New York City,Daily Mail has reported.

The incident happened at 12:04pm local time in the Westfield World Trade Center mall – which is also called the ‘Oculus’.

Authorities say a man fell over a balcony by the eastern staircases, falling 25 to 30 feet onto the hard marble floor below.

The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered a serious traumatic injury and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital for treatment,according to the report.

The incident comes five months after a 29-year-old woman died after falling 30 feet over the side of an escalator at the Oculus.

 The woman fell after reaching over the rail to grab her sister’s hat, which she had dropped.

Police with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are investigating the Tuesday fall.

Pictures from the scene show a wide police perimeter around where the man fell.
