The month of July will go as one of the best in 2017 based on the level of appreciation the key market indicators have witnessed on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) so far.
Specifically, at the close of business on Wednesday, the gaining points continued with 3.40 percent increase, while the year to date returns stood at 36.71 percent.
The All Share Index closed at 36,740.77 against the previous close of 35,533.00 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.663 trillion against previous close of ₦12.246 trillion. Volume traded decreased by 34.69 percent from 513.445 million to 335.340 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 21.26 percent from ₦5.897 billion to ₦4.643 billion in 5,385 deals.
Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 264.013 million shares exchanged for ₦2.966 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 20.528 million shares traded for ₦0.437 billion, Healthcare, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
FBN Holding Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Conoil Oil Plc, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Oando Plc, Presco Oil Plc and Zenith Bank Plc emerged the highest price gainers.
while Aiico Insurance Plc, Scoa Motors Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Neimeth Pharmaceutical Pc and Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc topped the losers chart. A total of 100 companies shares were traded on Wednesday with 31 gainers and 17 losers, while 52 stocks price was unchanged at the close of business.
