Police round up kidnappers of Kogi gov’s mum

The Police have arrested a gang of kidnappers allegedly responsible for the kidnap of mother of the Kogi State governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello.

Also arrested were armed robbers and kidnappers which have been terrorising communities in Abuja, Niger and Kogi States in recent times.

The Police also recovered two AK47 rifles from the hoodlums on 10th July sequel to the earlier arrest of Danladi Ibrahim alias Upayi a gang-leader of a group notorious for kidnapping and terrorism in the aforementioned states.

In a follow up to his confessions on several armed robberies and kidnappings in Kogi State, Abuja and Niger State including the Kidnapping of Governor Bello’s mother in Okene Kogi State, eventually four more members of the gang were arrested in Okene.

The suspects include Hon. Iliyasu Suleiman, 44, former Councillor in Okene and gangleader who invited the gang to kidnap the Governor’s mother.

Others are Hafiz Yakubu, a native of Okene, Iliyasu Obadaki, 35 also known as Doctor, Alhaji Nasiru, 43 a native of Inike village in Okene LGA of Kogi State, Danjuma Ibrahim alias Ubayi/senate, 26, who was arrested earlier by IRT in Suleija, Niger State.

All the arrested suspects have confessed to the kidnap of the Governor’s mother in 2015 and many other robberies and Kidnappings in Kogi State.

A member of the gang, Mohammed Jamiu alias Bomboy was killed during a gun battle with SARS Kogi State in June.

Meanwhile, the police are making serious efforts to arrest the last gang member still at large.
