Trading on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday closed on a positive note as the key market indicators sustained its appreciation which started from the first week in the month of July 2017.
The All Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization increased by 1.86 percent, while the Year-to-Date return stood at 28.94 percent. The All Share Index closed at 34,652.52 against the previous close of 34,020.37 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦11.943 trillion against previous close of ₦11.725 trillion.
Volume traded decreased by 22.33 percent from 378.188 million to 293.751 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 22.75 percent from ₦5.112 billion to ₦3.949 billion in 3,712 deals. The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 254.528 million shares exchanged for ₦2.896 billion.
Conglomerates came next with 16.518 million shares traded for ₦0.028 billion, Consumer Goods, Industrial Goods, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart. Access Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Unity Kapital and Transnational Corporation Plc were the most active stocks by volume.
Transnational Corporation Plc, Dangote Cement Plc, Julius Berger Plc, C & I Leasing and Access Bank Plc emerged the highest price gainers, while Aiico Insurance Plc, Vitafoam Plc, Morison Industries Plc, Unity Bank Plc and Berger Paint Plc topped the losers chart. In all 95 companies stock was traded with 20 gainers and 20 losers while 55 companies share price remained unchanged at the close of business on Monday.
