NSE Indicators Still Positive, Up by 0.80 Percent on Thursday

The positive momentum which started on Monday continued for the fourth trading day in the second week in the month of July as the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization increased by 0.80 percent on Thursday, while the Year-to-Date return stood at 23.71 percent.

At the close of business, the All Share Index closed at 33,246.91 against the previous close of 32,981.63 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦11.459 trillion against previous close of ₦11.367 trillion. Volume traded increased by 6.65 percent from 270.855 million to 288.858 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 37.95 percent from ₦2.769 billion to ₦3.820 billion in 3,631 deals.

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 254.938 million shares exchanged for ₦2.674 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 11.852 million shares traded for ₦0.629 billion, Conglomerates, Industrial Goods, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.

United Bank for Africa Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Niger Insurance Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Access Bank Plc were the most active stocks by volume. Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Forte Oil Plc, Cadbury Nigerian Plc, Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc, and Guinness Nigeria Plc emerged the highest price gainers, while Champion Breweries Plc, First Aluminum Plc, NCR Plc, BOC Gas and Linkage Assurance Plc topped the losers chart. In all 96 companies share prices were trade with 33 gainers and 19 losers, while 44 stocks prices did not change.
