Anglican Archbishop of Lagos Province, Most Rev. Adebayo Akinde has commended the Lagos State government over the rescue of abducted students of the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary, Ikorodu.
The three students were abducted from their classroom 29th February by gunmen who shot sporadically to overpower security men attached to the school.
Akinde commended the Lagos State government yesterday when he led a delegation comprising of Anglican priests, the school’s principal and parents of the students to the government house.
One of the parents, Ayo Olusan, said there was apprehension when the news of the abduction broke, revealing further that security has been strengthened around the school.
In his response, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said, this is a test of the commitment of the Lagos State government on safety of life and property of residents of the state.
The school girls were rescued after a coordinated police operation on Saturday. Three of the abductors were also arrested during the operation.
