Always carry valid form of identification, Police orders Ikorodu residents

Due to the recent security challenges in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, the Lagos State Police Command has announced that members of the public especially residents in Ikorodu and environs should always have valid form of identification as they move around within the area.

The information was made available in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole on Tuesday.

The Lagos State Police Command noted that it has become important and necessary members of the public always go about with their valid means of identification because of the series of police operations lined up in the area by the Lagos State Police Command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations.

“The Lagos State Police Command is deeply concerned about the criminal activities in the area which is not only unlawful but also affecting the integrity of the state,” the statement reads.

Famous-Cole stated further that “The planned police operations demands residents to carry on them a valid form of identification which will be verified, in order not to be restricted or face apprehension as adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the safety of every Nigerian throughout the state by the police and other security agencies.”

Concluding, the statement pointed that “This new order takes immediate effect from the 4th of July 2017.”

The Police is however employing the good members of the society to comply with the rule as they go about their normal duties.
