The peace enjoyed in the sleepy town of Odo Ere, headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State was yesterday shattered as dare devil robbers invaded the United Bank for Africa (UBA) bank in the town carting away undisclosed amount of money.
A social media source confirmed that sporadic gun shots rented the air while the operation lasted. The source also disclosed that a mobile policeman attached to the bank was gunned down by the hoodlums.
According to the source “Happening now: sounds of gun shots, explosives as robbers raid UBA Odo Ere branch in Kogi State. First bank, Egbe residents be on alert!”
The source stated later that “One Mopol officer killed, another in critical condition; robbers abandoned vehicle, disappeared with loot into the bushes, palpable fear in Odo Ere, Egbe over whereabouts of the attackers.”
Replying comments on the post, the source added that “No any known enforcement from the start of the operation to the end. Joint police/military patrol team stationed at Egbe/Eruku border arrived the scene six minutes after the gang had left.”
Egbe is the next town to the town attacked by the robbers which residents had since been gripped with fear of possible attack on the First Bank located in the town. Egbe, home of the popular Titcombe College (ECWA) and the ECWA hospital is synonymous with the Evangelical Church of West Africa now Evangelical Church Wining All (ECWA).
