The Agbura community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa have lauded the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri on the completion and commissioning of the ‘Agbura-Oxbow Lake road project.
Speaking to newsmen on tour of the recently inaugurated project at the weekend, the Agbura community Paramount ruler, HRH Eutychus Noimunugha Daufa (Ikile Viii), and the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of the community, Comrade Tribunal Egba praised the governor for executing infrastructural projects in communities across the State.
The community leaders noted that the road is an infrastructural landmark, describing the hitherto abandoned project by successive administrations of the state as a new gateway of opportunities for their community and others in the Eastern corridors of the state.
In his special goodwill message to the governor, the visibly excited royal father while speaking with Journalists in his palace emphasized that under the Diri’s administration, more communities in the state were now feeling government presence.
He said the governor has been executing infrastructure projects which have direct bearings on local economies.
“We thought this road will forever be abandoned, but Governor Diri has proven us wrong. He came and started the construction of this road when we least expected. We want to wholeheartedly thank him for the feat he has achieved in the provision of infrastructure in the state.
The monarch said: “As a community, we knew the level of s hardship this road which was abandoned caused us during the annual floodings.
“You know Agbura is one of the communities with history of worst flooding experience in the State, especially with the people leaving along the newly commissioned road.
“But now that that road has been completed and commissioned, the people leaving there apart from the economic benefits of the project will also have relief from flooding”.
